Coach Tony Lanzara  (Gym Director)- Coach Tony has been involved with competitive gymnastics since 1979.  Over the last 30 years he has learned many different training theories, by many different gymnastics professionals from around the world.  He has competed as a gymnast in 7 countries.  Tony was named the MVP of his college team his last two years and holds several gymnastics records to this day at Western Michigan University.  Coach Tony has a Bachelors Degree in social psychology and a minor in economics.  Tony has trained gymnasts to the highest elite levels in the world with two time world champion Vanessa Atler and  2000 Olympian Jamie Dantzscher, both who were local children from the area.   Tony is a professional member of the USAG and is Safety Certified.  Tony's hobbies outside of the gym include working out, rock climbing, coin collecting and motorcycle racing, and being "Daddy" to his twins!. 

 

 

 

Coach Eric Iversen (Gym Director)- Coach Eric has been involved with gymnastics for over 20 years.  He started his gymnastics career at AV Twisters when he was in 4th grade.  Eric spent several years on the competitive team and competed all over southern California and Las Vegas.  Eric started coaching at AV Twisters when he was 16 years old and has been here ever since!  Coach Eric teaches all levels from preschool to competitive team. Thought his years of coaching Eric has taught thousands of students in the Antelope Valley including many of AV Twisters' current coaches.  Coach Eric is a professional member of the USAG and is Safety Certified.  In his spare time Eric works closely with The Former Ladies of  "THE SUPREMES."  He has toured all over the USA and internationally with The Ladies of The Supremes.  His world travels included trips to England, Belgium, Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Germany, and more! 

 

 

 

Coach Ruby Hernandez ( Team Coach) - Coach Ruby started gymnastics at AV Twisters when she was 8 years old.  Ruby was trained by Coach Tony and trained alongside 2000 Olympian Jamie Dantzscher and  Vanessa Atler. Coach Ruby competed through Level-8 throughout Southern California and Nevada. Coach Ruby has been coaching at AV Twisters since she was 15 and has coached everything from level-1 to competitive team. In 2001 Coach Ruby took a 4 year hiatus from coaching and joined the US Navy where she was able to travel to Japan, Korea, Australia, and was stationed in Guam.  Upon her completion of duty Coach Ruby Returned to AV Twisters Gymnastics!  Ruby is a professional member of the USAG and is safety Certified.  As well as coaching Ruby works at Challenger Memorial Youth Center as a camp clerk.  Coach Ruby has her own "mini me" following her around in the gym most of the time!  It's her daughter Jazmn, she's in one of our preschool classes!   

Coach Ray Latonio (Team Coach) - Coach Ray began his Gymnastics career at the age of 15. Ray attended Cal State Fullerton where he competed as an elite level gymnast. Ray placed in the all around competition at the NCAA championships and was named MVP his sophomore, junior and senior years. Ray’s favorite event to compete was the high bar where he received a 9.8! Ray is a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo, enjoys boxing and still fights in competitions. Ray is happily married for 30 years and has two sons. Coach Ray is a USAG professional member, safety certified, and has his CPR certification. Currently Ray coaches Level 4-6 team and Optional Team

 

 

 

Coach Juan Hernandez-  Coach Juan started training at AV Twisters in his early teen years.  Juan  has a background in break dancing and spent over 8 years as a competitive cheerleader.  Coach Juan originally began coaching at AV Twisters in 1998.  Juan currently coaches tumbling classes, level-2 and competitive team.  Coach Juan is a professional member of the USAG and is Safety Certified. His favorite events to coach are uneven bars and floor/tumbling.  Juan's hobbies include break dancing and making music.  In his free time he enjoys hanging out at the beach and mixing music as a DJ.

 

 

 

 

 

Coach Katie Baggett- Coach Katie started gymnastics at AV Twisters when she was 7 years old.  Katie spent 3 years on our competitive team.  She competed through level 6 and trained level-7.  At the State Championships for level-5, Kate placed 1st on uneven bars, 3rd on vault, and 3rd in the all-around!  Coach Katie has been coaching since 2008 and her favorite event to teach is the uneven bars. Katie is a professional member of the USAG and is Safety Certified.  She is currently coaching level-1 through level-4.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Coach Dave Bailey- Coach Dave has been involved in the sport of gymnastics for over 30 years!  He began his career at the age of 9 at Louisville Turners in Kentucky.  Coach Dave has 12 years of competitive experience.  Coach Dave was on the Southern Illinois University gymnastics team for 4 years and his highest score was a 9.8 on the Pommel Horse.  Coach Dave has been coaching  at AV Twisters since 1989 and currently coaches boy's classes.  Dave is a professional member of the USAG and is Safety Certified. Coach Dave's hobbies include spending time with his wife and 2 sons, visiting theme parks, foreign money collecting, and snowboarding. 

 

 

 

 

 

Coach Jessie Morhaime- Coach Jessie started gymnastics at AV Twisters when she was 7 years old.  Jessie is also a former member of our competitive team and was on our very first  level-4 team, competitive gymnastics used to begin at level-5.   Coach Jessie continued gymnastics and trained up to leve-7 skills.  As a gymnast her favorite event was beam, it's also her favorite event to coach.  Jessie is a Jr. professional member of the USAG and is Safety Certified.  Jessie has been coaching here at AV Twisters since 2008 and currently coaches preschool classes through team gymnastics.  In her spare time Jessie loves playing with her dog Briar. 

 

 

 

 

 

Coach Emily Bandy-  Coach Emily started her Gymnastics career here at A.V. Twisters when she was 7 years old.  She was coached by Coach Tony and Coach Ruby.  Emily competed levels 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and trained Level 10!  As a level 8 gymnast Emily placed first on bars with a 9.675.  As a Leve-9 gymnast she qualified to compete in the Western Nationals in St. Louis, Missouri.  Emily is a professional member of the USAG and is Safety Certified, and has coached at AV Twisters since 2009.  Emily currently coaches developmental classes and in her spare time she enjoys pole vaulting and is an avid artist!

 

 

 

 

 

Coach Ta'lor Montgomery-  Coach Ta'lor started gymnastics here at AV Twisters when she was 7 years old.  Ta'lor worked her way through levels 1-3 and competed Levels 4, 5, and 6. Ta'lor usually placed high on the Vault and Floor.    Ta'lor trained level-7 but didn't compete it.  Ta'lor is still an active gymnast and is in Coach Juan's advanced tumbling class training top level tumbling skills.  Coach Ta'lor is a professional member of the USAG and is Safety Certified.  Ta'lor currently coaches developmental classes.  Ta'lor is a full time student and in her spare time Ta'lor enjoys cheerleading and spending time with her family and friends.

 

 

 

 

 

Coach Tammy Gerrety - Coach Tammy started gymnastics here at AV Twisters when she was 3 years old!  Her first coach was Coach Eric.  Coach Tammy completed levels 1-4.  Tammy's older sister Tanya was also a coach here, and you will occasionally see her here as a substitute.  Tammy has been coaching at AV Twisters since early 2009 and coaches developmental beginning classes.
